Tradition Bank Thinks Pink
Houston
Aeros Host Breast Cancer Awareness Night
Katy, TX — November 9, 2007 – Pink pucks ran amuck at a recent Houston Aeros game. Tradition Bank recently sponsored commemorative pink pucks sold with ticket packages for the Houston Aeros Breast Cancer Awareness Night game on November 2 in support of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Houston Affiliate.
Tradition Bank President and CEO, Downy Vickery and his wife, Kavin, along with Senior Vice President and Director of Marketing, Carol Bonaccorso presented a check for $3,782 to Dorothy Paterson, the pledge chair for the Susan G. Komen Pink Honor Roll, who accepted the check on behalf of the Komen Houston Affiliate. The donation was raised through the sale of Aeros tickets and the commemorative pink hockey pucks.
The November 2 game marked the second annual Breast Cancer Awareness Night hosted by the Houston Aeros with Tradition Bank. Special game events included a small pink hockey stick given to the first 3,000 fans and a women’s hockey skills competition. In a strong fight, the Aeros won against their opponents, the Lake Erie Monsters – a fitting parallel to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure’s courageous fight to find a cure for breast cancer. When the final total came in, over $5,000 was raised for cancer research at the event.
“Susan G. Komen for the Cure is such a valuable and vital organization,” said Vickery. “So many people are affected by breast cancer, and we are honored to work with the Houston Aeros in support of Komen’s mission to finding a cure.”
