Our History - A Tradition of Community Service
Tradition Bank is an independent community bank with locations in Bellaire, Alief, The Museum District, The Woodlands and 3 locations in Katy. Rooted in the traditional values of personal service, honesty and integrity, Tradition Bank takes great pride in serving its neighbors and supporting many local activities and organizations. Locally owned and operated, the bank supports the growth of its communities by financing projects to help businesses prosper as well as offering support to local schools, churches and organizations.
Tradition Bank's history dates back to the early 1960s. Pursuing a shared dream to open a true "community" bank in the Houston area, a group of local business leaders, led by Houston attorneys and brothers Charles and Ed Vickery, opened their first bank, The First National Bank of Bellaire, in 1963. Today this Tradition Bank location in Bellaire serves as the home office and operational center for all Tradition Bank locations.
With the success of their first bank in Bellaire, the investors began establishing locations in other areas where their community-based philosophy of banking would continue to meet the needs of the communities they served. Over the years, more locations were opened across Houston and its surrounding areas, including three locations in Katy.
The bank's senior management consists of Downy Vickery, who has been with the bank since 1980 and currently serves as Chairman of the Board and President of the Grand Parkway location, and Craig Wooten, who has been with the bank since 1971 and serves as CEO and President of the Bellaire location.
The Tradition Bank Family currently consists of the following seven banking centers:
